Project Description

A comprehensive restoration programme was carried out on the external façade, including remedial work to the roof and stonework, replacement of cast iron guttering, and lime repointing to the gable end. The crittall and timber  windows were carefully refurbished to preserve their historic character.

At the rear, the modern extension was sensitively upgraded. Unsympathetic pvc windows and doors were removed and replaced with timber casement windows and a traditional timber door, all finished in a heritage conservation colour. This transformation brought the rear extension into harmony with the character and charm of the original house.

The small rear courtyard was hard landscaped using Indian sandstone, with perimeter drainage finished in Cotswold stone. Box hedging was planted to define the boundary, and the existing wisteria was pruned and trained around the house, enhancing its timeless appeal.

Internally, the house was thoughtfully restored. Original beams were carefully exposed and retained, a traditional log burner with flue was installed to bring warmth and character. A Shaker-style kitchen was fitted atop limestone flooring, and handmade cabinetry throughout the rooms provided practical storage. Oak doors and column radiators were introduced to enhance the period feel, while contemporary bathroom suites were fitted to offer modern comfort. A light, neutral colour palette was chosen throughout to highlight and complement the home’s original features.
