Project Description

Barnrose managed every stage of the project, from concept creation through to the finishing touches of interior design

Externally, the property received a full makeover. At the front, a retaining wall was built to create two car parking spaces, and all windows and doors were replaced to reflect the character of the house. An outbuilding was constructed to serve as a utility room. To the rear, the windows were replaced, including the removal of a bay window to create an opening for a new conservatory. A timber deck was built to take advantage of the sea views, incorporating an external shower and useful storage underneath. The plot was levelled to accommodate an artificial lawn, bordered by a path and planting beds, with a shed positioned at the bottom of the garden.

Internally, the space was reimagined with a coastal theme in mind. Limestone flooring was laid in the kitchen area, while light oak flooring flowed through the sitting room and conservatory. A handmade kitchen was installed, featuring lime-washed oak worktops, and a tongue-and-groove banquette was built to maximise the seating area. A new log burner, set within a fire surround on a stone hearth, was installed to provide warmth, while bespoke cabinetry was crafted for practical storage. Tongue-and-groove wainscoting was introduced to the stairwell, adding a classic and elegant touch. The first floor was reconfigured to create three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, traditional in style. The walls throughout were painted in soft tones to create a light and airy finish, and all furnishings were sourced and provided in line with the design brief, completing the transformation.
