Cirencester

Project Overview

The complete restoration of a charming period cottage in the centre of Cirencester

Project Gallery

Project Description

Barnrose managed the whole process from design to completion..

The front façade was meticulously restored to replicate its original architectural features, with lime mortar pointing and essential repairs preserving the building’s integrity. The kitchen extension was rendered and painted to match the overall aesthetic, while bespoke timber casement windows and traditional doors were installed throughout, maintaining the property’s historic character.

With no rear garden, the front space was reimagined to accommodate parking, a garden, and a seating area. The original stone wall was removed to allow vehicle access, with a new dry-stone wall forming a natural divide. The existing shed was removed, artificial grass laid, and a patio installed to create an inviting outdoor space.

Internally, the cottage was reconfigured to provide a kitchen-diner and sitting room on the ground floor, with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Traditional features were added, including a galley kitchen, limestone slab flooring, a log burner, and period window hardware, all complemented by a soft pastel colour scheme, creating a calm and harmonious interior.

The transformation enhanced both the functionality and flow of the home while preserving its historic charm.
