The rear external façade was transformed through the removal of unsympathetic pvc windows and doors, replaced with traditional timber casement windows and a french door, all finished in a heritage conservation colour to complement the building’s character. Remedial works to the roof and stonework further enhanced the structural integrity, bringing the rear extension seamlessly into harmony within its Burford setting.
The rear garden was thoughtfully landscaped to reflect the period style of the cottage. A limestone-paved seating area was created, framed by traditional dry stone walls and planted borders, giving the space a relaxed mediterranean-inspired feel. A further area of lawn was laid around mature planting, leading to an additional limestone patio and summerhouse, providing a versatile entertaining area.
Internally, the property was reconfigured to accommodate two spacious double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, along with a further occasional loft room. A classic shaker-style kitchen was positioned at the rear, allowing for a generous sitting room at the front. The character of the cottage was enhanced by exposing original timber beams, while a traditional log burner added warmth and authenticity. The bathrooms and bespoke cabinetry were designed in a timeless, classic style, and the interior was decorated in a warm, inviting palette.
The transformation maximised the internal living space and introduced usable landscaped gardens.
